Thyroid is
becoming common disease these days. First it was considered mostly female are
patient but now a days even attacking many male, even kids are not safe rather one
can say attacking infant too.
Thyroid disease is
considered to be silent killer. Thyroid gland is
one of endocrine gland of human body. It is situated in neck and shape, looks
alike butterfly. Its function is very
important it looks metabolism of body. When thyroid gland is not properly
active or produces fewer hormones than body require it is called Hypothyroid. When
it is overactive or produces more hormone than body requires it is called Hyperthyroid.
Level of cortisol increases in brain hence causing more problem of depression
alike
Yoga has been
practiced in our country since ages. There are different forms of yoga and they
each have different benefits. Different people have different needs, troubles
and pain. Also, there are various forms of yoga which helps in curing certain
illness. Yoga can be the ultimate cure for controlling diabetes, thyroid
problems, back issues & much more. This article is about how get relief by
using yoga for thyroid problems.
Sarvangasana (Shoulder stand pose): Srvangasana is the most
important pose to stimulate thyroid gland and control thyroxin. This is the
most effective yoga pose where blood flow from legs to head region due to its
inverted condition thereby helps in curing of thyroid.
Sthir Nauka asan (Still boat pose); place a support under feet
of nearly one feet height (support is places under feet as one should take it
as rest pose not yoga). Support the head on the wall. Do SHANDILYA MUDRA for 15 minutes effective in
thyroid cure
Viparitakarani (Inverted Pose): The meaning of Viparita is
‘reverse’ and Karni means is ‘by which’. Viparitakarni helps to balance the
functioning of thyroid and eases the complication caused by hypoactive thyroid.
This is also one of the important asanas for thyroid disorder.
Halasana (Plough pose): Hala means plough. The pose resemble to Indian
plough hence it is called halasana. This yoga exercise gives compression to the
neck and stimulates the thyroid glands.
Matsyasana (Fish pose): Matsya means fish, in the final pose, the
asana take the form of fish. Hence the name is Matsyasana. Matsyasana provides
adequate stretching to the neck region thereby stimulate the thyroid gland.
Ustrasana (Camel pose): This asana also give stretch to the neck.
Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation),
Kapalbhati and Pranayamas (Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, Bhastrika Pranayama,
Ujjayi Pranayama): All these pranayamas, Surya Namaskar and Kapalbhati
are very beneficial to reduce the symptoms of thyroid.
Bhujangasana (The cobra poses): There are some sorts of
compressing and stretching in the neck while performing advanced Bhujangasana,
which helps in regulating thyroid glands.
Setubandh sarvangasana (Bridge formation pose): This is one of the
important yoga for thyroid disorder. While performing Setubandh sarvangasana,
if the practitioner success in forming a good bridge, the neck get ample amount
of stretch, which is good for thyroid gland.
Sirshasana (Headstand pose): (do under strict guidance of Yoga teacher ) Sirshasana
is one of the finest Yoga postures to manage thyroid gland. Sirshasana acts
directly on the thyroid glands, helping to balance the metabolic functions and
bring about wakefulness and alertness, but without excessive nervousness.
Malfunctioning of the thyroid can result in many ailments either directly or
indirectly. Sirshasana helps to bring perfect health to this vital organ.
Dhanurasana (The Bow pose): The bow pose massage the thyroid gland
effectively and compel the gland to produce required amount of hormone to
control thyroid.
Sound of Yogic ‘OM ’ for
20-30 times is also beneficial for smooth functioning of thyroid gland.
Yog Nidra -Shav Asana (corpse pose); Shav asana
plays a vital role to cure thyroid as it give rest to mind. By Shav asana we
get our mind at rest nearly to 12 5 which is double the rest while sleeping
which is 6% during sleep of 7 hour.
Pranayam - Pranyam increases
the cortisol level of brain which is main factor for hormone production hence
disrupting the function of thyroid gland.
Ujjai Pranyam: sound while exhaling in Ujjai Pranyam. Sound
during exhaling in Ujjai Pranayam with Jalandhar Bandh create ripple around
thyroid gland area curing thyroid gland. Do it for 10 minutes.
Bhramri Pranyam: do Bhramri Pranayam for 5 minutes
OM chanting; slow OM
chanting for 20 to 30 minutes
Cleansing practice;
Laghoo Shankhaprakashlana (once a week)
Kapal Bhati: Kapal Bhati Pranyam forces intestine to
work properly and increasing metabolism
Agnisar: Agnisar100 strokes total in 3 to 4 rounds
